WPX personnel and public service agencies are responding to a fire that began at a company site at approximately 10:15 p.m. mountain time on Monday evening.
The company has shut-in all operations at the site where six new oil wells are in the early stages of production. All of the temporary storage tanks at the facility are on fire.

Public services from San Juan County, Sandoval County, Farmington, the New Mexico State Police and the Navajo Nation are coordinating emergency response activity.
The cause of the incident is not known at this time. The company is focused on ensuring public safety and working with fire fighters to keep the fire contained on the WPX location.
The company will provide further information as it becomes available. Media inquiries can be directed to Kelly Swan at (918) 629-1037.
