Scrap pipe fetches $36K for United Way

WPX donated 11 miles of 2 3/8-inch diameter oilfield scrap pipe to an auction supporting this year’s local United Way campaign.

The pipe went up for bid on Four Corners Broadcasting’ radiothon on September 9. After all the winning bids were tallied, the pipe raised $36,300 for the United Way.

The pipe had an estimated value of $1 per foot and came in 32-foot lengths. The segments can be welded together to make fencing.

WPX is partnering with Tuboscope’s office in Aztec on the donation, who will load the pipe free of charge to the winning bidders.

Over the past three years, WPX’s employees in Aztec have raised approximately $50,000 for the United Way.

  1. I sure would like to purchase or get some 2 3/8 piping for my fence projects or build my car port. I’m a resident of Escavado Wash Area.
