WPX employs environmental, health and safety specialists. Our environmental specialists have degrees and backgrounds in fields ranging from biology, industrial safety, engineering and geology to public administration and environmental science.
We work with federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, as well as state agencies and local jurisdictions.
Additionally, one of the measures we continually monitor to assess our safety performance is lost-time accidents (LTA). An LTA is a specific reportable event, whose standards are set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). An LTA involves a work-related incident, injury or illness that requires an employee to miss time away from their normal roles and responsibilities.
Over the past 10 years in our San Juan operations, we incurred two LTAs (one in 2006 and one in 2008) over the course of over the course of 1.4 million total hours worked by our New Mexico employees.
We did not incur any LTAs in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
