NATURAL GAS

WPX was born in the state’s San Juan Basin. Our first properties were in New Mexico, acquired from a pipeline company.

Our early success developing natural gas encouraged our former parent company to continue developing unconventional plays, which led to WPX becoming an independently traded public company at the beginning of 2012.

We now have 426 million cubic feet of proved natural gas reserves in the San Juan Basin and have earned more than a dozen industry awards since 2000 for doing things the right way.

In 2014, we produced an average of 110 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from our San Juan Basin properties. In second-quarter 2015, we produced 126 million cubic feet of gas per day in the basin.
